The Everyday Philanthropist takes the ideas from Dan’s best-selling book, “Uncharitable,” and his incredibly powerful TED Talk and distills them down to simple, easy-to-understand guidance.
The first release in 2008 was the best selling title in the history of Tufts University Press. Uncharitable has been reissued in 2022 by Brandeis University Press with a new preface by Dan. The Stanford Social Innovation Review said it, "deserves to become the nonprofit sector's new manifesto."
What if the whole way we’re set up to work together in our communities obstructs any hope of us ever solving problems at scale? Why doesn’t large-scale collaboration seem to work? Why do chronic problems with health indicators, poverty, economic inequality, illiteracy, and more persist, despite the efforts of the brightest minds in our communities.
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. has called it, "An Apollo program for American philanthropy and the nonprofit sector."
"Reading this book was like having a conversation with a wise, loving friend who only wants the best for you. Dan Pallotta's inspiring words and stories have shown me what, on some deep level, I already knew -- that a 5 year plan is not the way to bliss but that discovering my calling allowing the Universe to support me in a natural way is. His section on "kindness" opened my heart and brought me to tears. I plan to give this book to all my nieces and nephews so that they will learn, early on, what success is really all about." - Amazon Review
